Resty is Abigail’s mother, and throughout Resty’s pregnancy she was fine and normal. She gave birth normally with no complications, but after 2 weeks Abigail developed a yellow skin (Jaundice) and she was taken back to hospital and she would cry a lot. She got better after a while, but her development was slow. She has Cerebral Palsy. The father left them because he couldn’t handle what was happening to his child. After a while Resty met another man who was willing to take care of her and Abigail. They got two children together, a girl and boy, which are 3 and 2 years old now. Unfortunately the husband got issues at work and was taken to prison, and she was left alone with 3 young children. She doesn’t have money because she had used all the money in the business to bail out the husband from prison, but all in vain. She could no longer pay for home rent and the work place rent, so she was chased out and she had to go and stay in the container where she had her shop.
She stayed there with her 3 children and it was really not good. She stayed in that place for about 1 year and a half until we met her. The husband was able to come out of prison, but he was not in position to help the family and he left to the village, the countryside. Abigail is 6 years now and unfortunately she is not able to talk properly and she doesn’t walk.
Special Joy Mission Uganda met Resty and Abigail at a point where they really needed a hand. SJMU was able to get them a small house and pay rent for 3 months, get them food and Resty was able to attend our business training meetings. At the end of the training she was able to get a loan to invest in her business. As special Joy Mission Uganda we pray and hope that we will see a change in Abigail’s life and the family as we continue to walk the journey with them for a couple years. We focus on friendship, discipleship, therapy and schooling, as Resty continues to run her business so that she can take good care of the whole family, including Abigail.
